Lando Norris Tops Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has beaten his teammate at each of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the top spot in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the title advantage from Piastri by one point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the leading McLaren for most of the session before sprint qualifying scheduled for the evening session.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in realistic title contention, sitting with a 36-point deficit Norris, finished in 17th position as his team followed a unique setup.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to have an incident, if briefly, when he rotated at corner four soon after starting.
Tsunoda spun out over the track edges before sliding over the gravel trap, and was fortunate to escape with just a slight brush of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the very end of the session, spinning around through the quick descending corner leading to the final corner on to the pit straight.
The seven-time champion ended the session in 19th place, one place behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were significantly quicker of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's car in third, 0.619secs slower than Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
